This text is held on such a high pedestal in the dental hygiene world, and rightfully so; it is truly a wealth of information. My issue is with the format in which it is written. After reading the first two chapters I was already so frustrated with the format that I set the book down and didn't touch it for the rest of the semester.
The book is written in an "outline" or "notes" format. There are headings and bullets, etc. It's very "choppy" and doesn't "flow". Usually at the beginning of the chapter there is a box of key terms which are basically mini glossaries for each chapter. Instead of just including the definitions in the body of the text, you have to refer back to this list of key terms which are alphabetized instead of grouped by different topics discussed within the chapter. I've since pushed through my frustration and continued reading the book. I feel like it takes me twice as long as usual to get through the information and comprehend what I've read than with other textbooks. I have not enjoyed reading this book whatsoever, which is a shame because I really am very interested in all of the information it has to offer.

If given a choice, I'd like the info presented a different way and with better explanation in some chapters. Overall, its a required text and I have to read it. It was in good condition when I got it.
