Marino's ICU Book has remained one of the most accessible and comprehensive intensive care resources available. The 3rd version, however, was woefully out of date -- until now. The 4th edition is fully updated, features colored illustrations and photographs, and offers a searchable online-version of the text for use with your iPad/smartphone/etc.

Despite owning a library of critical care texts, I won't often find myself reaching for my copy of Vincent's Critical Care again. This is an indispensable resource for medical students, residents, fellows, attendings, Pas and critical care RNs, etc. More than just a technical manual, it is often insightful, whimsical, and poignant. There are very few medical references that you can sit down with and actually read recreationally, but this is one of them.

I was given this edition of "Marino's The ICU Book" as a gift. I have not had the opportunity to fully absorb all of the new changes. It would seem that the book has been fully re-written, including updated references and tables, reflecting current practice ( such as Theraputic Hypothermia, updated ventilation modes, etc.) I appreciate the fact that the publisher has chosen to make this essential reference available in electronic form. This is a reference that I will use frequently in clinical practice. A most thoughtful and practical gift from a dear friend.
