This book gives an excellent review of basic business practices in a veterinary practice. All veterinarians should read it to be sure they are following generally accepted practices. I suspect many are not, due to a lack of business education in veterinary schools, as well as being preoccupied with the clinical aspects of practice.
By The Mucker
This book has it all, from start up basics to in-depth management protocols. All of this is in the usual easy-to-find, easy-to-read format that you expect from the Five Minute series.

I am a vet tech and this book has gotten me through alot of questions, not to mention helping me with my own flock of sheep. This book is right on the seat of my truck along side my Border Collie "Don" when I go out on farm calls. Never leave without it. I like the fact that all the dosages are right in the book no need to take time to figure it out. Great book !

If you can only afford one book on breeding or managing ewes and lambs, make it this one. The format for diagnosing your ewes problem, condition, emergency or whatever, is absolutely clear and accurate. This is the best information available. Highly recommended.

Animal Physiotherapy is a long awaited volume of essential theoretical and practical material for practicing animal physiotherapists and veterinarians with special interests in sports medicine and rehabilitation (particularly canine and equine). Written and edited by leaders in this emerging field, this book explores the fundamental aspects of physiotherapy theory, assessment and practice (assessment techniques, manual therapy and facilitation). The book is particularly useful for individuals that have already completed some post-graduate specialized training in the fields of animal physiotherapy and rehabilitation, as it succinctly presents and challenges these students with evidence-based clinical reasoning models - an essential element that will only continue to propel the already established credibility of physiotherapy into the animal health and wellness sphere. This book is an essential component to a small, but growing compendium of professional evidence-based animal physiotherapy and veterinary rehabilitation literature.

This book was recommended by a cardiologist at a hands on meeting I attended on echocardiology. I got it as a complement to "Atlas of Small Animal Ultrasounography" by Penninck, and I am glad I did. I am also glad I got the digital version. Boon's book works great on my Ipad, thus justifying me having the Ipad (thanks IRS!). Penninck's book is great, but like most veterinary texts weighs about 600 pounds, Boon's is simply on my ipad, which did not change weight after the download. The pictures are super high quality on the ipad, and the text looks like it was designed for the ipad. If you had some experience trying to access text with the Ettinger's on line etc, then you know some of the vet texts are trying to be digital friendly, but they really are not quite there yet. Well, this is the first veterinary text I have had work right on digital, so, I am happy.
By Jerry Garcia
A great book for vets interested in veterinary cardiology imaging. It arrived in my house in Brazil in very good conditions, very well packaged, and exactly as described.

This is a very poor text book. This is a first edition and it is full of errors, I wonder how any editor allowed this to hit the market. The the text is very vague and in many cases incorrect. The errors are too numerous to count but here are a few:
-Anemia is a condition of low platelet count - incorrect anemia is low RBC count
-Ferrets are rodents - incorrect, ferrets are NOT a rodent
-Birds have lungs which reside in the diaphragm - birds have no diaphragm, and even then the diaphragm is not a cavity.

I am very disappointed in this book.
By Liz
This book should not be on the market. It is full of errors, totally agree with the other reviewer, Liz. Just because it arrived quickly or is " easy to read" doesn't make the text " Good". This is a very poor text book so full of misinformation I feel badly for the students who use it and then expect to keep a job if this is what is being taught.

Excellent book. One of the most practical books I've ever read. Most references are from the recent years. I have read also the previous editions of this book. The text covers common and rare blood disorders and the coverage of each topic is comprehensive.
The information is presented in a logical and readable way, utilising bullet points, tables and diagrams very well.

I really really like this book and cannot recommend it more. It is easy to use and read. It is a smaller paperback and doesn't take up too much space. I use it on a weekly basis, especially when I have lab values that I'm uncertain about. Overall, I'm very satisfied and am happy I purchased this book!

It's been fully revised and updated and offers coverage arranged alphabetically for quick searches. The combined knowledge of nearly 200 authorities on the topic makes it a key acquisition for any library catering to horse owners, vets, and students of equine science and health.
By Midwest Book Review
I love the 5-minute consult books, and the 5-Minute Equine Consult is no exception. I use the Small Animal version at work all the time, and now I have the equine version at home for my horses. It can be very hard to find one trusted source of information that is comprehensive and at the same time concise, and the 5-Minute Consult is just that. Everything from symptoms to differentials to treatment and prognosis, it's all right there. Awesome book and a great resource for the veterinarian and the horse owner (or one in the same, like me!).

The 2nd updated edition of Jean-Pierre Lavoie and Kenneth William Hinchcliff's Blackwell's 5-Minute Veterinary Consult: Equine is a 'must' for horse vets or any student vet working with horses.
