Customer service and delivery excellent. The text is the worst I've ever read so far for my masters program so far.

Pain, especially chronic pain, is a major health care problem, a fact that has precipitated a recent dramatic expansion in pain-related research efforts. This revised edition of Dr Welden Bell's classic text has been updated to incorporate the latest findings from these studies, including advanced understanding of the neurophysiology and central processing of pain and the resulting changes to diagnostic, classification, and treatment guidelines. To assist clinicians in the difficult and often complicated task of managing patients suffering from oral and facial pain, this textbook provides documented information concerning pain and pain behavior so that one may better understand what pain is, how it behaves, and how it might best be managed; develops a useful classification of orofacial pain disorders; offers practical diagnostic criteria by which the different orofacial pain disorders can be identified on a clinical level; and suggests guidelines for the effective management of patients who suffer from pain in the region of the mouth and face. The concepts and techniques discussed are supplemented with case reports as well as new, full-color photographs and illustrations to help the clinician better understand orofacial pain disorders and how to treat them effectively.

The seventh edition adds 22 new drug monographs, as well as updated dosages and information for existing drugs. A noteworthy feature is the Prescriber Highlights section found at the beginning of each monograph that allows readers a quick method of finding important information for that drug.

Plumb’s exhaustive one-volume coverage of drugs approved for veterinary species and non-approved (human) drugs that are used in veterinary practices today make this book an essential reference for veterinarians, veterinary technicians, veterinary pharmacologists, pharmacists with veterinary patients, animal research or zoological facilities, and libraries that serve these groups.

As a practicing veterinarian, I use Plumb's every day. You know, "My dog has Lyme nephritis, blah blah blah, what dose of doxycycline do you recommend?" or "My tortoise just ate lizard poo, how much Panacur can he have? Blah blah blah." You know the drill.

I wanted access to Plumb's without having to through the online services. Up until now, I had to subscribe to expensive Veterinary Internet Network to get access to an electronic version of Plumb's, and after a while I got tired of the pious "Kumbaya and pass the checkbook" monthly payment. And they weren't very iPad friendly, either. So one day you're lugging your Macbook into an exam room and "Sir Bites-A-Lot," a West Herefordshire Gnashing Retriever sees your hands occupied holding a computer and takes the initiative and tries to rip your throat out. Suddenly you're faced with a spur-of-the-moment choice: do I drop my expensive Macbook and shield my crotch and throat from Sir Bites-A-Lot, or do I hug my Macbook to my chest and scream "Not the face, not the face!" Decisions, decisions.

Fortunately, Dr. Plumb's favorite resource is now available for the Kindle. So I DL'd it to my Kindle app on my iPad and VOILA! I can simultaneously impress clients with my wealth of pharmacological knowledge while simultaneously using my free non-iPad-holding paw to shield myself from the fur-covered razorblade attacking me from the exam table. Kudos to you, Sir! Additionally, the iPad becomes a legitimate business expense and I am blessed by the IRS. Does life get any better, I ask you?

Top rate learning aid!

This is a regional teaching/learning aid.
The schools for the Deaf in the Pacific-NW area use this book/DVD and the Bravo series.
The grade schools, high schools, colleges and universities use this book/DVD also.

Western Oregon University offers a great ASL/English Interpreting Bachelor-degree course and they use this book as well, including many others of course. It's perfect for this area.

I live in Pacific NW and this is a very acceptable book/DVD here.
I learned beginner's ASL from this book and the Bravo series.

In my opinion, it is an advantage to learn how to sign from different regions, not a disadvantage or negative aspect. It just means you are becoming more multi-lingual in a sense. The Deaf do not mind if we use a sign from a different region, any more than hearing people mind if we say--y'all or you-guys--at least, being a relocated Texan, I HOPE y'all don't mind. LOL In turn, the Deaf will teach us the sign that is most acceptable in the particular region in which we/they live. Variety makes life spicy, yes? Knowledge is power.

I have an old first edition (1981): American Sign Language--A Comprehensive Dictionary by Martin L.A Sternberg, Ed.D. 5,000 signs. Impressive. I love it! It's interesting to see how some of the older, two-handed, cumbersome signs have evolved into better ergonomic signs. This language is always improving.
I got mine online from a used-book store for about $6. Quite a steal as it sold for $40 in 1981. I would search for the latest revised edition and cherish it!

A very good, current dictionary to have is the American Handshape Sign Language Dictionary (new revised 2010 edition from Gallaudet).

Judy Stone's "Conducting Clinical Research: A Practical Guide for Physicians, Nurses, Study Coordinators, and Investigators" should be required reading for anyone interested in the nuts and bolts of clinical trials research, from physicians and other investigators to data managers and analysts and last, but not least, both medical students and students of epidemiology and biostatistics who intend upon embarking in careers in clinical trials research. Dr. Stone does an impressive job covering the philosophical, legal and research-oriented aspects of clinical trials research, without making this job seem too dry or inaccessible for the novice researcher - for which this book is primarily intended - as well as those with extensive familiarity with clinical trials research. I, for one, wish I had this book years ago when I was working as a data manager for a clinical trials study conducted by researchers from Columbia University's Departments of Medicine and Epidemiology. But now I have a copy - which was graciously provided to me by the author for the purpose of writing this review - and it will be an important reference that I shall use when I am again working as a data manager for a clinical trials research study; it is a reference I am certain that others interested in clinical trials research shall find most useful too.

Stone begins her book with an extensive introduction to clinical trials research, explaining why and how it is done, and describes how to choose a suitable site (or sites) for a potential clinical trial. Next she devotes several chapters to covering the legal and other regulatory issues related to clinical trials research, which, I might add, is done with ample doses of humor.
