DO not buy the loose leaf version of the book. We could not find any binder big enough to fit it. It would take a scrapbook to hold all these pages. Absolute rip off. Spending so much time just to find a retailer that could fit this dumb book.
By Robert J. Uy
I've already taken anatomy and physiology one and two in the past, this book was for another class (Movement Science) and I must say its better than any of my previous anatomy books! I love all the pictures, and the descriptions for the most part are very clear and concise. The only reason I didn't Rate it 5 stars is because its awkwardly wide. You may not think this is a big deal until you notice how odd it can be. Otherwise great book!

Gray's Anatomy for Students
Posts about Download The Book Gray's Anatomy for Students for everyone book 4shared, mediafire, hotfile, and mirror link It didn’t take long for students around the world to realize that anatomy texts just don’t get any better than Gray’s Anatomy for Students. Only in its 2nd edition, this already popular, clinically focused reference has moved far ahead of the competition and is highly recommended by anyone who uses it. A team of authors with a wealth of diverse teaching and clinical experience has updated and revised this new edition to efficiently cover what you’re learning in contemporary anatomy classes. An improved format, updated clinical material, and remarkable artwork by renowned illustrators Richard Tibbitts and Paul Richardson make anatomy easier than ever for you to master. Unique coverage of surface anatomy, correlative diagnostic images, and clinical case studies demonstrate practical applications of anatomical concepts. And, an international advisory board, comprised of more than 100 instructors, ensures that the material is accurate, up to date, and easy to use.
  • Uses more than 1,000 innovative original illustrations— by renowned illustrators Richard Tibbitts and Paul Richardson—to capture anatomical features with unrivalled clarity, and makes body structures easy to locate and remember from one illustration to another through consistent use of color.
  • Includes over 300 clinical photographs, including radiological images depicting surface anatomy and common clinical applications of anatomic knowledge.
  • Presents an organization by body region that parallels the approach used in most of today’s anatomy courses.
  • Features conceptual overviews summarizing each body region's component parts, functions, and relationship to other bodily organs.
  • Uses clinical cases to underscore the real-life relevance of the material.
  • Promotes further learning with other fine ancillaries from Gray’s, including Gray’s Atlas of Anatomy, Dorland’s/Gray’s Pocket Atlas of Anatomy, Gray’s Dissection Guide for Human Anatomy, and Gray’s Anatomy for Students Flash Cards.
  • Features a rewritten abdomen section for greater clarity.
  • Provides updates and revisions to clinical material to provide you with the absolute latest knowledge in the field.
  • Includes expanded discussions of cranial nerves for added clinical relevancy.
  • Uses a new internal design and presents an improved index for easier retrieval of information.
  • Provides more information on the general aspects of anatomy via introduction chapter.

In short, this is an excellent book when used in the appropriate context. It is meant to be a textbook for advanced human anatomy classes that take a regional approach (i.e. med school gross anatomy); there is no better regional anatomy textbook.

This was the main text for my gross anatomy class, and the professor also recommended Netter's Clinical anatomy (which is rich in clinical content but not the best way to learn structures/landmarks). As a textbook Grays is very good; it has a great combination of descriptive and accurate text as well as fairly detailed pictures. Personally, I wish that it had more pictures with more labeling. The drawings are not as good as Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy. Netter's Atlas, however, has no text, so I always use these two resources together.

Gray's Anatomy for Students was designed to be a textbook for REGIONAL ANATOMY classes. That is, students take a region (say Head & Neck) and learn all of the important bones, nerves, vessels, organs, and tissues in that region. A systems-based class, by contrast, teaches all of the important nerves in the body (across all regions), then moves on to all of the bones, then moves on to the circulatory system, etc. and not necessarily in that order. This is the best textbook if your goal is to truly master regional anatomy while taking a class. I am not sure it would be very useful for a systems-based curriculum so try to find out what your class involves before purchasing this book. Gray's also contains a fair amount of clinical content which is interesting, but may not actually be useful to you.

If you are considering Gray's for USMLE board review, it is much too dense and contains too much detailed information for that.
this book is great for med school anatomy! great pictures and charts!! (for the most part...)

my ONLY problem with this book:

someone clearly forgot to edit the last chapter on the head and neck. which is a shame because this is one of the hardest topics in anatomy. It is so bad that i have found myself needing to use other texts (Moore's Clinically Oriented Anatomy-awesome book) to make up for it.

For example- some charts list wrong innervations and functions of muscles. In addition to clearly obvious typo's, it is a very poorly organized chapter which jumps all over the place. One second you are looking at the jaw, the next you are in the neck, and somehow you make your way to the nose. It doesn't flow well at all.

To make it even more difficult, in the later parts, when the authors go back to discussing structures in the head, such as the nose and mouth, they tell you to refer to previous pages from the beginning of the chapter. Those pages listed are incorrect, making it all the more frustrating....

and finally, although it will tell you all the functions of each muscle it does not tie it all in well. A simple straight forward explanation of mastication and other very important functions of the head would be very helpful. I know it's an anatomy book, but if it wants to be a clinical anatomy book, it NEEDS to discuss these things, even if it's just a general explanation in a small diagram on the corner of a page.

Also one thing it lacks is a final section on the function of each cranial nerve. All it has is a two page chart at the beginning of the chapter, but Moore's has almost an entire chapter devoted to this with diagrams illustrating everything.

The book is fine as a lone book if you don't need the access code. If you're buying it for a class, you probably do need the access code.

As noted in the other review, this book as sold by Amazon DOES NOT come with the required online access code. If your class requires the online McGraw-Hill Connect access then you will either have to buy it from them for an additional $45 or buy the book + access code somewhere else.

I took a class that required this book... The big problem was that it didn't come with a code to use the activity center thing on the internet. So i had to spend even more money on that.

I used this book for microbiology and used the test bank for it to study for exams and my final - little did i know at the time that professors use the test banks for exam questions. If you need it to study, let me know and I'll send it to you. My exams were from it directly and I used the homework solutions manual too =)

Excellent, and well written. If you have to take college level microbiology this is the book for you. It is a lot cheaper than the school bookstore, and the quality is fantastic. I ordered this book one week before the class, and it arrived on time.

I have six of the seven editions of the Kuby Immunology. It remains the best text book for budding immunologists for both undergrad and graduate level. It is especially useful for those of us working immunologists that find it difficult to keep pace with how rapidly our science is expanding in our level of understanding immunity. With advancements in molecular biology, we are constantly needing to review how we understand the immune system. Kuby is no longer just for undergrads. It also caters nicely for graduates and post-grads as well as it brings in the latest knowledge of immunology in a concise accessible manner for those of us applied immunologists.

This is a good book for a difficult subject (difficult for beginners at least) and I feel it organizes and explains quite well.

Neuroanatomy has to be the most boring of the world's most interesting subjects. I ought to know because I almost got a Ph.D. in it. Sure, the brain is fascinating, but then there's all these nerves and brain centers you have to learn at least something about before you can relate to the physiology, which is the really interesting part, especially when you find phrases like "...periodic, subcortical, excitatory, scanning-pulse coupling processes in the lateral geniculate nucleus." Then you find that the brain has 14,000 major and minor brain centers and nerve pathways, and suddenly, you're wondering why you're majoring in anatomy or pre-med and why didn't you study something more interesting like the history of Albania or the comparative sexology of the higher primates.
That having been said, this is one of the most accessible and entertaining books to learn neuroanatomy from I've seen. It's not a basic book, however, and will be most useful to students of the brain sciences and nurses, physicians, and so on who have some previous training in the subject. It would make an excellent review text since those with previous experience probably wouldn't even need the coloring feature. I found the summaries of the various brain areas very clear and concise, better than what I had to learn from 25 years ago when I was a young graduate student. (Ah, these young whippersnappers have it so easy). Maybe neuroanatomy is why I switched to mathematical neurobiology and biophysics--it was easier to tolerate. Anyway, overall a very well written book and presentation of a difficult subject with an interesting slant in terms of the coloring feature.

This book is not for kids! This is a very big book and very technical. It pushes the limits of what you can call a coloring book. Learn about the brain starting from the insides of an invidual nerve cell all the way to the entire brain.

The user that I bought this book from sent the book with a new cover and binding also with a note explaining it. They also threw in a pair of headphones to the package for FREE! I was very appreciate of the customer service. Not to mention, it was exactly the book I was looking for. Buying textbooks is not always easy, but I would buy another one from this user over another one anytime.
By Debra Harmon
A well written textboook that has been crucial to my understanding of organic chemistry.
However, it could definitely be improved by having an answer key to the practice problems.
